for my in-person interactions with nurses, everything's been smooth sailing and everyone's been so helpful to me. for some other people I know, they've had different experiences. I don't know if it's because I'm polite or humble or what, but I haven't had trouble with orders being completed.
tips:
1. get to know the nurses' names and introduce yourself. tell them what team you're on as well as who the docs are on your team.
2. always say thank you, and always acknowledge that they're busy
3. be confident and approach the nurses: if you just stand there, they're going to keep working because they have so much to do
4. Super-Tip: As you'll be sent to go talk to a nurse for a patient: ask who the patient's nurse is! I can't emphasize that enough: doing otherwise will make you and the nursing team inefficient, and maybe your order will get forgotten/done late.
5. the patient's nurse can change from day to day, so always be sure to ask!
I'm glad I've been having a good experience at the nurse's station and I think it's true that your interaction with the nurses can be difficult or good, and that you are the one shaping that relationship.
