I had an amazing first month on Medicine and am really thankful I started it with such a great, intelligent, laid-back, organized, compassionate team. Everyone I worked with was so excited to teach, had an amazing sense of humour, all things that made my first bit of clinical training something I looked forward to every morning.
Sure, I got tired and would end up finding myself falling asleep for what was meant to be "just a nap" when I got home. I would also sit a few extra minutes in my car listening to my favourite songs upon getting into the car in departing for work and before getting out to walk to the hospital in my own way of seizing a few more moments of zen before a busy day. But the people I worked with made all the difference, all really great, positive types.
I hope the patients I was following who are still in the hospital get to go home soon and recover, or live out the rest of their days in peace and comfort. This is the start of an adventure, and I can't wait to see how things turn out.
