residency personal statement tips I

hey readers.  things are starting to settle down for me temporarily.  congrats for all those who applied for residency, now we just wait.

i'm going to sleep in a while because tomorrow will be really busy, so i'll keep it short.

quick tips for the residency personal statement:

talk about:
1. what got you into the field, in the first paragraph, briefly
2. elaborate on that, giving examples from your rotation/related preceptor experiences
3. give examples of how you were helpful to the team on your rotation
4. give examples of how you were good at patient care, being compassionate, bla bla
5. mention your career goals
6. talk about how rewarding your rotations are and what you really like about the field
7. talk about what you can bring to the program

*optional: talk about what you want to get out of residency.  warning: a program might not be as strong or have what you're looking for (ex: it might not have extensive interventional radiology facilities, or some super specialized type of training, or they might not have level I trauma facilities).  you can keep it general, like saying you want to get a lot of experience in vascular surgery, etc.

i'll expand on this later.  cheers
