The month-long interview

Rotations are a time for exposure, learning, and for you to get evaluated.  It's also a way for you to be interviewed in action.

I've been on a rotation in the field of my interest and knew it wasn't just a time to run around and see if I liked it.  You get to a point in medical school where you learn that if there's a program you want to match at, you not only need to impress the attendings, but you need to have good chemistry with the residents.

Residents have input on the future of residency applicants as I mentioned in an earlier post.  As a med student, you have little responsibility, or a lot of responsibility, so you have to be ready for whatever comes your way.

Especially if you're doing something competitive which requires away rotations, you need to impress all of the team, stay late, and avoid disasters.  It's going to be hard, but that's just the way it is.
