The Long Illness

Today the world lost an amazing person who dedicated their life to the care of others.  In obituaries, we always see the phrase "after a long illness."

We ponder endlessly at what the disease could be, not because we are morbid, but because we want to understand what took someone away from us.

I felt heartbreak today for the family of this surgeon; I felt the chambers of my figurative heart become icy and dark with sorrow.

I feel wounded every time someone passes away.  Wounded again when I see how it affects those around us.

Every time someone passes away, the indelible mark of mortality becomes darker upon us all.  Life truly is fleeting, and every moment counts.

I wish everyone inner peace and serenity, happiness, and the will to change things.  I wish them love and comfort, as tired and as alone as I am.  I wish them the best.

  1. I dont know what to say to make you feel not alone. But you aren't. You shouldn't be. :] I hope you feel better about that soon.
