Why Not Internal Medicine?

So far I've realized an important thing to consider if you're interested in internal medicine is if you're absolutely excited about keeping up with every single lab value and event in past medical/surgical history, when it happened, how well-controlled conditions are, what every medicine has been tried for a certain condition and how it worked, what allergies to medicines patients have and how exactly each allergy manifests.

I feel like I'm not that personality type, but if you like micro-managing and knowing absolutely every single thing about your patient, and managing every level of every medicine, you might like internal medicine.

I hope surgery rotation treats me well, or I'll likely be back to square one on deciding careers.  I'm very much a point-and-fix person, so if I'm not meant for surgery, I'll probably be a little disappointed.  But here's to the future.
