Well, there's this girl I actually have worked up the courage to pursue something with. We've actually hung out before and had fun, but I dunno, I guess I get a little stupid around girls, especially ones who are really attractive and intelligent. I think we've had a low-level interest in each other for a while, so I've decided to give things a go.
I'm an introvert, pretty easy-going and kind of just a shy, mild-mannered guy. Back in university, I held my umbrella over a girl who got caught in the rain and walked her to the building she had to go to, and I still offer my jacket and scarf from time to time. That's probably pretty archaic but I sort of can't help it. hm. Anyway, I'm doing my best to be a more confident guy, and become adept at this dating game.
Who knows how this will go, and frankly, it's cool if this doesn't work out or go anywhere, but you can't spend your life not being assertive and confident when it comes to dating (or trying to date, in my case).

The weird thing too is that I'm consistently around married people, it's kind of odd since I'm always the non-married one. I was asked recently what I wanted to specialize in, and after saying I'm interested in surgery, I was asked if I was married. Entering surgical training must be the academic equivalent of joining a specialized military squadron that just takes single young men willing to risk their lives and leave it all behind.
