It was pretty good, and I'm only somewhat of a superhero-film person. Robert Downey jr played his part pretty well and he was also pretty awesome in Sherlock Holmes. I'm really starting to like his acting style. Scarlett Johansson was my favourite though, for about a zillion reasons. I didn't even know she was going to be in the film and it turned out to be pretty cool, plus she's kind of really gorgeous and aces the femme fatale role.
I can't really critique the fidelity of the film to the comics that much since I haven't really read the comic books, but I really enjoyed how there's humour thrown in here and there (like in a certain office scene, and a fight scene). The action was pretty alright at times, though I feel like the fight scenes were kind of short. Plus the main villain's whip weapons were pretty cheesy (I only say that because double-whips are sort of lame compared to like double-swords or double plasma gatling guns or something).
I guess hand-to-hand combat is one thing that really makes fight scenes though, since it's more "personal" and more visceral than lasers and stuff like that. More hand to hand combat would've been nice, but then again, it's an Iron Man film and not X-Men or anything.
Oh well, it was still pretty enjoyable and I like the story since Tony Stark isn't born with superpowers or anything, he just is brilliant and engineers a ton of great gadgets and stuff. I highly recommend it, since it's pretty fun film. Don't expect it to change your life or alter your personal philosophy or anything, but it's a great way to have fun.
