Thank You, Jens Lekman

Every once in a while, there's something that really changes your life.  For me, its most commonly a new song I stumble across.  I've been in a pretty long period of time where I haven't written anything new, and it's pretty renewing having pulled myself out of it, or rather, being pulled out of it by Jens Lekman's "Black Cab."

I used to write a lot 4-6 years back, mostly when I had the time to, but once I started working in labs and studying for the MCAT, and interviewing for med school, I had less and less time.

Black Cab is so inspiring, not just for the great guitar melody, and not just for the quality of Lekman's voice, but because of the lyrics.  For me, the best music is something that's introspective and expressive, when a musician writes something about himself and throws it into the public light.  I can really relate to Lekman's lyrics in this song, and the way he sings them really makes it resonate with me.

I'm going to write music again, and I owe it all to Mr. Jens Lekman.  Thanks, sir.
